Habit Lab

Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This policy explains how Habit Lab uses cookies and similar local storage technologies in our app and website. We keep this as minimal as possible — we only store what the app absolutely needs to function.

Good news for EU/UK users: Habit Lab does not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, analytics cookies, or any third-party marketing cookies. No cookie consent banner is required for our core functionality under the ePrivacy Directive's "strictly necessary" exemption.

What We Store and Why

Storage keyTypeWhat it storesExpires
rp_health_user localStorage Your login session data — user ID, name, role, group — so you stay logged in between app opens Until you log out
hl_week_* localStorage Tracks whether you've seen the weekly summary this week — prevents repeated popups Cleared each new week
hl_note_seen_* localStorage Tracks which coach announcements you've already seen — prevents showing the same message again Per announcement
hl_session_* sessionStorage Temporary in-session flags (e.g. whether a popup was shown this session) Cleared when app closes

What We Do NOT Use

Legal Basis (EU/UK Users — GDPR / ePrivacy)

All storage we use falls under the "strictly necessary" category — it is essential for the app to function (login session, de-duplication of notifications). Under the EU ePrivacy Directive and UK PECR, strictly necessary storage does not require user consent. We do not need a cookie consent banner for this storage.

Managing Your Storage

Changes to This Policy

If we ever add new storage or cookies in future, we will update this policy and notify users where required by law.
