This Privacy Policy explains how Habit Lab ("we", "our", "the App") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Habit Lab is a habit-tracking and accountability-coaching platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information directly from you when you create an account and use the Service:

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide and operate the core habit-tracking and coaching features of the Service
To calculate streaks, scores, badges, and leaderboard rankings
To allow your coach/group admin to view your progress and send you reminders ("nudges")
To send transactional emails (password resets, account verification)
To improve the Service and fix bugs
To process payments for paid group memberships, where applicable

3. Who Can See Your Data

Group Admins / Coaches can see your habit logs, streaks, scores, and the optional "goal" note you write in your profile, for members of their group only.

Other group members can see your name, leaderboard rank, score, streak, and birthday (month & day only) if you choose to share it.

The Super Admin (platform operator) can access account and group data across the platform for support and moderation purposes.

4. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following categories of service providers, solely to operate the Service:

Email delivery — to send password resets and account notifications via SMTP
Payment processors — to process subscription/group payments, if your group uses a paid plan (we do not store full card numbers)
Hosting providers — to store and serve application data securely

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and habit data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Access, correct, or update your profile information at any time within the app
Request a copy of your data
Request deletion of your account and associated data
Withdraw consent for optional data (e.g. birthday visibility) at any time

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage, rate-limited login attempts, and account lockout protection after repeated failed login attempts. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. International Users

If you access the Service from outside India, your information may be transferred to and processed in India, where our servers are located.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
